Wednesday, 1st April 2020

MGISS has appointed Dave George as Technical Lead within its Professional Services division. Working alongside organisations such as Northumbrian Water Group, Sir Robert McAlpine and Carnell, Dave will lead a team of specialists developing applications and services using the latest geospatial technology in the utility, infrastructure and environment sectors.

A pioneer in the transformation of geographic data from 2D to 3D, Dave has a particular interest in future proofing data capture, integration and in-field workflows to support emerging technologies such as Augmented and Virtual Realities, machine learning and Artificial Intelligence.

“Dave has the experience and expertise to lead not only our Professional Services team but also our customers into the next decade and beyond,” commented Mike Darracott, founder and Managing Director of Liverpool based MGISS. “Throughout his career he has specialised in the utilities, highways and infrastructure sectors so understands the challenges these industries are facing. He also has the skillset, both technically and personally, to develop, implement and support bespoke solutions from design to in-field use.”

“It is a real honour to be working with an innovative and forward thinking company at such an exciting time,” added Dave George. “The geospatial sector is facing a number of opportunities with technologies such as VR and AI making headlines. However, the challenge is to achieve maximum returns on investment in geographic information technologies to inform strategic asset management.”

Dave George has nearly 20 years’ experience in the geospatial sector having graduated from Kingston University with a degree in Geographical Information Systems in 2002. He started his professional career in technical support for GNSS and mobile GIS technologies before progressing into critical infrastructure industry sectors including water, health and highways.

MGISS is a multi-award winning company that advises organisations in the smart use of data, software and hardware. MGISS was recently ranked at number four in the North West Tech 50, a ranking of disruptive companies creating innovative technology solutions, named as one of the top 21 companies in the mapping software space by Beauhurst and featured in the inaugural 2019 LCR Tech Climbers list.
