Up to date on assets: A one-system asset management solution for Sir Robert McAlpine
MGISS have recently completed a successful development project on behalf of Sir Robert McAlpine who are the contract managers of the A168/A19 Dishforth to Tyne Tunnel DBFO on behalf of Highways England.
Sir Robert McAlpine needed an asset management system which would be capable of managing all of their assets including condition information of every asset.
Sir Robert McAlpine were recommended Highstone, an asset management system developed by Claremont Controls Limited to manage all of their assets including condition information of every asset.
In conjunction with Claremont Controls, MGISS was able to customise their GeoGrafi-M application so that assets could be directly checked out from Highstone for condition inspection.
The assets could then the inspected on site with a suitable Windows or Android handheld device, recording vital and up to date condition records of any asset including up to date photographs, as well as any new asset not currently recorded in the asset management system. Once completed, thanks to the customisation work undertaken, the up to date condition details are directly synced into the HighStone database without the need to manually export files from one system to another.
The benefit to this linkage meant that data captured on site could be directly synced back to an enterprise solution without the need export out of one system and then import into another, saving the staff time and providing the insurance that one system is truly managing all of the assets in the organisation with the ability to send assets out to the field for inspection.
