Event Round-Up: The Path to Network Resilience
Nearly a whole month has passed since we attended our final two events of 2024. We had the privilege to exhibit both at Highways UK and the ENA Energy Innovation Summit in October. Both events brought together a diverse group of big corporations, SMEs and enthusiastic prospects, all united by a common goal: to harness the power of technology to enhance network resilience, reliability, and safety.
First up was Highways UK.
It was our first time holding a stand at this popular event, which completely exceeded our expectations. Something about being among the exhibitors created a whole new energy that felt all-embracing and motivating. We were perfectly positioned to catch people coming out of the National Highways Theatre to talk about the upcoming Geotechnical Drainage Management System (GDMS) transition. The Highways UK event took place in the same week of the transition, so it was an essential time to be one step ahead and share our preparations and adaptations for our highways solution.
With safety and strike avoidance being the hot topic across the event, Product Manager Darius was snatched for an exclusive interview about vGIS- our Augmented Reality solution, for situational awareness of underground pipes and cables- for which we are the exclusive re-seller of in the UK. This was definitely the highlight across the two days- being recognised for our innovation and collaboration in this space.
Two weeks later, MGISS MD, Mike, and Commercial Lead, Eamonn, attended the ENA’s Energy Innovations Summit, presenting in the Innovation Hub. As MGISS continues to establish itself as a key player in the energy sector, the Innovation Summit provided the perfect platform to showcase our expertise in geospatial applications. Hosted, for another year, in our home city of Liverpool, the event’s innovative spirit and collaborative atmosphere was inspiring, and motivated us to continue contributing to the ongoing transformation of the industry.
IPAS: A Game-Changer for Network Resilience
A central focus of our presence at the summit was our Interruption Prevention Alert Service (IPAS). This innovative solution leverages earth observation technology to monitor critical infrastructure and detect potential threats, such as construction activities or ground disturbance, that could compromise network integrity.
IPAS was originally developed for the water industry to address similar challenges faced by water companies. By adapting this solution to the unqiue neds of the energy sector, we aim to bridge the gap between industries and drive innovation.
Key takeaways from the Summit:
- Shared Challenges: Both water and energy sectors face common challenges, including the need to efficiently manage extensive networks and mitigate risks.
- Scalable Solution: IPAS is a flexible and scalable solution that can be tailored to the specific requirement of any linear nework, regardless of its size or complexity
- Collaborative Future: We look forward to collaborating with energy network operators to implement IPAS and drive meaningful change
The Road Ahead
MGISS is committed to supporting these sectors’ transition to a more sustainable and resilient future. We will continue to invest in innovative solutions like IPAS and work closely with industry stakeholders to deliver real-world benefits.
Join us on this journey to smarter, safer, and more reliable networks.
