Northumbrian Water’s Mission to Protect Underground Infrastructure.

MGISS | 4 May 2024

Burst pipe or leaking pipe is under repairing

In an age where everything relies heavily on infrastructure, from water supply to energy distribution, and with the UK government’s goal of 300,00 new homes being built each year, the importance of safeguarding these systems cannot be overstated.

Northumbrian Water Group (NWG) are joining MGISS for a Knowledge Transfer Showcase, hosted by Spring Innovation, where you can hear about what needs to happen in order to truly protect our critical assets from future damage and interruption.

What you’ll learn on the day:

NWG has been at the forefront of innovation, constantly seeking ways to enhance the resilience of its networks for its customers. NWG have been proactive in engaging with stakeholders, including local authorities, contractors and the general public to raise awareness of the importance of safeguarding our critical infrastructure.

One of the main challenges faced by utility providers, like NWG, is the vulnerability of their infrastructure to external factors, like accidental damage caused by construction work or deliberate sabotage. Traditional methods of detecting such interference rely on reactive measure, by which time the damage has already occurred and incurred major costs. NWG are one of the first to realise that prediction is key to reduce risk to networks, not reactivity. They are staying ahead, and staying safe!

NWG’s commitment to innovation extends beyond technological advancements. The company is laying the groundwork for a more robust and resilient infrastructure that can withstand the challenges of the future. They work by their purpose:

MGISS are thrilled that NWG have trusted our expertise and commitment, and are partnering with us to launch our Interruption Prevention Alert Service (IPAS).

You can learn all about our collaboration with NWG and the ground-breaking work they are doing for real-time action at our slot at the Spring Innovation Showcase:
