MGISS Back to events

We’re now in the second cycle of post-pandemic return to normalcy in many aspects of our lives and events and exhibitions are a welcome break from the office, for many professionals throughout the UK and globally.

For over a year, physical events were put on hold, and we had to rely on virtual alternatives to stay connected. However, now the pandemic has been declared over by WHO, it’s great to be back at networking events and exhibitions, and we have missed them more than we might have realised.

As a provider of geospatial data solutions, MGISS is well-positioned to appreciate the value of networking events and exhibitions. Over the years, we have attended many events, including the Esri UK Annual Conference, GeoBusiness, and Utility Week Live. These events have provided us with an opportunity to showcase our expertise, connect with customers and partners, and keep up with the latest industry trends.

Read below on some of the events that MGISS attended this year.

Esri UK Annual Conference

MGISS has been a regular exhibitor at the Esri UK Annual Conference, and we have always found it to be an excellent opportunity to showcase our expertise in geospatial data capture, management, and insight. We have previously used the event to showcase our award-winning solutions, including Z-Transform, a plug-in which enables real-time vertical transformations for ArcGIS Field Maps users.

This year we focused on insight as a service, featuring operational insights, situational awareness and introduced our newest project – IPAS.

  • Operational insights are uncovered daily in our detailed dashboards, giving a visual representation of geospatial data. Real time data is provided to support our customers operations, agile decision-making and productivity.
  • Situational Awareness enables field operatives to reduce the time to locate by assets by 50% by using augmented reality software – giving the user x-ray vision, to see underground assets.  This results in both peace of mind and engineering accuracy to those working onsite, avoiding potential accidents and costly fines.
  • IPAS (Interruption Prevention Alert Service) is an innovative platform-based risk alert solution, supported by the European Space Agency (ESA) and is being developed in conjunction with major UK utilities, to mitigate risk within proximity to critical assets across entire networks. The platform utilises satellite technology and asset geo-data to identify third party interference within close proximity to critical utility assets. This results in invaluable insights for water and gas utility companies, consequently improving asset management processes in terms of resilience, safety, and operational performance to keep essential energy and water utility services running.

We exhibited on stand 7, with a demo of situational awareness using vGIS on a tablet.

There was a great turnout at the event and lots of traffic at our stand, with our team ready to answer questions from visitors.

We also supported our partner Eos Positioning Systems who were on stand 12. As the exclusive UK and Ireland distributor for all Eos Positioning System products and services, including the leading Arrow Series GNSS receivers, we attended the event as the UK specialist of fully integrated GNSS data capture and insight solutions.

About Esri UK Annual Conference

The Esri UK Annual Conference is one of the most significant events in the geospatial industry’s calendar. It brings together GIS professionals from various sectors, including government, utilities, and infrastructure. The conference provides an opportunity for attendees to explore the latest innovations in geospatial technology, network with peers, and attend informative sessions on topics such as spatial analysis, data management, and mapping.

Utility Week Live

Whilst we’re not regular attendee’s we attended Utility Week Live this year, as it was a great opportunity to reconnect with our colleagues and friends in the industry. Utilities is the most prominent sector we work with so it was good to see old and new customers plus industry partners.

As the trusted augmented reality (AR) partner for Leica Geosystems and the distributor of vGIS AR and vGIS Scan in the UK and Ireland, we joined Leica Geosystems on their stand as GIS and Augmented Reality specialists.

We were impressed that the exhibitors had a distinct focus on future sustainability and a genuine desire to embrace technology and innovation to support resilience. This is similar to our ethos at MGISS and how we are accelerating the resilience and sustainability of critical utilities adapting to climate change, using satellite services and data.

About Utility Week Live

Utility Week Live is an annual event that brings together a wide-range of professionals from the utilities industry and a great opportunity for networking. The event allows attendees to explore the latest technology and innovation in the industry, and to hear sessions on topics such as asset management and smart networks.

GeoBusiness

MGISS has always attended GeoBusiness and found it to be an excellent opportunity to connect with prospects, customers, and partners. Attending the event allows us to ensure we’re updated with the latest trends and technologies in the GEO and GIS space. Geobusiness is an essential event for any professional in the geospatial industry, and we were delighted to be back this year.

We enjoyed visiting our partners Leica at their stand and hearing their talk about pushing boundaries with GNSS and how the industry can utilise many opportunities.

About Geobusiness

GeoBusiness is another significant event in the geospatial industry which attracts a network of professionals from around the world. The event helps attendees discover the latest technology and innovation in the geospatial industry and hear sessions on topics such as geospatial data analytics, surveying, and mapping.

We’re planning for our next exhibition to attend and hope to see you, your colleagues and partners in the geospatial profession at similar events. We are always excited to connect, network, and share some great customer success stories of applied geospatial solutions.
